Filtration, from the inside
In the AMB and GF, water passes through a ceramic shell and then a filter core. This core is solid for the AMB and made of granules for the GF. Black Filters uses a block of activated carbon without an outer ceramic shell.

How does it work? The ceramic shell forms a mechanical barrier. Inside, activated carbon and zeolite are combined in a compact block.
Its key advantage: combining a washable ceramic shell with a dense core in a single cartridge.

How does it work? Water first passes through the ceramic shell, then through a core of granulated activated carbon and zeolite.

How does it work? Coconut shell-derived activated carbon is compressed into a porous block, without an outer ceramic shell.
Its advantage: an affordable off-the-shelf solution to improve the taste and smell of drinking water, among other things.
Key takeaway: Black Filters = a block of activated carbon. It shares carbon's compact shape with AMB, but not its ceramic construction + filter core.

NSF Tests & Documents
Chlorine, metals, pesticides, pharmaceutical compounds: the manufacturer's Envirotek report details the results substance by substance. It concerns the tested sample, without distinct results identified for GF and AMB. For Black Filters, the NSF documents concern the materials of the components; they do not certify the reduction of all contaminants by the cartridge.
Your stainless steel system
Refills for Monderma stainless steel gravity-fed water dispensers and certain Berkey®, British Berkefeld® or ProOne® models. Check the usable height, diameter, spacing and mounting. Imperial: approximately 17.8 × 7 cm per element. Black Filters: approximately 25 cm long, 6 cm diameter cap.

Let the water flow through the filters by gravity, then use the tap to fill your glass or carafe.
Use cold, potable water only. Before filling the upper chamber completely, make sure the lower chamber is empty: the system does not stop automatically.

02 37 91 34 45Start with how much water you use, how often you want to refill and the space available. Travel has a 5.6 L reservoir in a more compact format. Big offers 8.5 L for more water between refills. Check the dimensions on the product page and leave enough space to lift the lid.
Both filters are used together. Replace the pair no later than 12 months after first use, with regular maintenance according to its instructions. Depending on your water, usage, filter condition and the stated capacity of your model, earlier replacement may be needed. Cleaning does not extend this deadline.
Black Filters uses a coconut activated carbon block. Imperial GF combines a ceramic outer shell with granular activated carbon and zeolite. Imperial AMB combines a ceramic outer shell with a compressed activated carbon block and zeolite. Flow, capacity and maintenance guidelines are specific to each version. You can find them on the product pages and in the instructions.
Compatibility needs to be checked for your exact model: available height, filter diameter, hole spacing, seals and fixings. Compare these with the replacement filter’s dimensions. If you are unsure, contact us with your system’s brand and model before ordering.
