FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How does a Monderma gravity water filter work?

The water filter operates without electricity or a connection to the water mains. Pour the water appropriate for your model into the upper chamber: it gradually passes through the cartridges before being collected in the lower chamber. Check the available space in the latter before each refill.

What is the difference between Black Filters and Imperial filters?

Black Filters use an activated carbon block. Imperial GF and AMB filters combine a microporous ceramic shell impregnated with silver with internal media containing activated carbon and zeolite. GF uses granular carbon; AMB incorporates a compressed carbon block. Imperial filters are manufactured in the United States.

These differences describe the construction of the elements. The documents and their scope must be examined for the relevant reference: a test report and a certification are not interchangeable.

Where can I view tests and certificates?

The Tests, certificates and technical documentation page groups the files, their dates, and their limits. For the Imperial range, it notably presents the 2016 Envirotek report no. 16-112 and a manufacturer's NSF/ANSI 42 document dated 2020. The launch of the range under Monderma in 2026 is distinct from these dates.

The report concerns the tested sample. The public version of the certificate does not detail the Monderma GF and AMB commercial references nor their certified reductions; these documents are therefore not presented as proof of a nominative certification for all our filters or the same reduction rate for both versions.

What contaminants can my filter reduce?

For a specific substance, consult only the results applicable to the exact model and the intended conditions of use. Results must be read substance by substance: a value concerning one compound does not extend to its entire family. Our team can direct you to the available documentation, without attributing performance that is not justified therein.

Which water filter should I choose: Big 8.5 L or Travel 5.6 L?

The Travel 5.6 L prioritizes a compact format. The Big 8.5 L offers a larger chamber capacity. Choose according to the available space, your consumption, the flow rate of the filters, and the desired refilling frequency. The sight glass spigot and the stand depend on the ordered configuration.

Can I filter tap, spring, or well water?

The Imperial configurations presented on our site are intended for cold potable municipal tap water, in a gravity system without pressure. They are not presented as a means to make well, spring, or microbiologically unknown water potable. A ceramic shell is not sufficient, on its own, to establish this capability. Follow the authorities' guidelines in the event of a water alert.

How do I maintain my water filter?

Follow the system's manual and the filter reference's manual for cleaning the chambers, seals, spigot, and filter elements. Do not apply instructions intended for one cartridge to another. Cleaning the ceramic surface does not renew the internal media and does not replace filter replacement. Find the manuals and instructions.

How often should Imperial filters be replaced?

The Monderma replacement benchmark is a maximum of 12 months after putting a pair into service, sooner if the manual or conditions of use require it. This maintenance benchmark is not a certified reduction duration for each contaminant. A pack of four allows, on a system equipped with two filters, to have one pair and then a replacement pair; it does not extend the lifespan of the pair already in use.

For other references, consult their manual. Do not consider the absence of odor, unusual taste, or a drop in flow rate as proof that all performance is maintained.

Are the filters compatible with other brands?

Compatibility depends on dimensions, available space, and attachment. Consult the element's datasheet before installing it in a water filter from another brand. Mounting compatibility does not constitute a certification of the equipped system.

What are the delivery times and costs?

Consult our Delivery rates and zones page as well as the product availability information before ordering. For a pre-order, take into account the specific timeframe announced.

Can I return my product?

The terms, deadlines, and potential exceptions are detailed in our return and refund policy. Contact us before shipping a return.

What payment methods do you accept?

Payment methods are presented on the Payment methods page and at the checkout step of your order.
